The Beagle is a very loyal and loving dog, though he can be a bit independent. They are durable, intelligent, and low maintenance.
They make a wonderful family companion and also are appreciated in the show ring. The beagle is a born hunter, thus the expression "They turn on their noses, and turn off their ears".

A Beagle needs exercise to keep them happy.
A fenced yard or the willingness to spend time walking your dog are a requirement. Beagles are placed in two classes, under 13 inches and 13 to 15 inches. We have litters once a year. All Birchwood puppies have been seen by a veterinarian twice and have the start of their puppy shots, dew claws removed, wormed, and have their AKC papers. Companion and show puppies are available. Please contact us for availability of either.
