The regular meeting of the Financial Advisory Council of St. Andrew’s Church as called to order by Chairman, Angelo Fiorino at 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2005, in the meeting room at St. Andrew’s Rectory in Murphysboro, IL.
Members present were: Sharon Fisher, Pat Krawczyk, Patty Williams, Judy Wisniewski, Bill Harper, Dave Barger, Steve Schumacher, Ray Nowacki, Angelo Fiorino, Fr. Gary Gummersheimer.
Members absent were: Cindy Holt, Cameron Donahue
The meeting began with prayer led by Fr. Gary.
Mr. Barger made the motion and Mrs. Williams gave the second to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of St. Andrew’s Financial Advisory Committee held October 25, 2005.
A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None.
The Chairman declared the motion carried.
Copies of the approved minutes will be made available in the back of church and also be placed on the Parish Web Site.
Mr. Nowacki commented that there was an omission on the Diocesan Annual Financial Report (page 2) as far as Religious Retirement Collections were concerned. The line was shown as zero (0). This was an error on the part of the Accountant and the original copy that was sent to the Diocese was corrected. The Finance Council will follow up on this at the next meeting to see a copy of the page that was sent to the Diocese.
The Profit & Loss Statement from July 1, 2005 through November 29, 2005 was reviewed.
There were some questions on expenditures over budget on some of the line items.
Mr. Schumacher made the motion and Mr. Barger gave the second to approve the P & L Statement as presented.
A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None.
The Chairman declared the motion carried.
Ms. Fisher mentioned that there are still three bills due that need to be paid. One of those is the Church’s portion of the Property and Liability Insurance, which is $4,744.40.
Another is the portion of Worker’s Compensation Insurance, $867.60, and the third is the retirement assessment for the Hinkley Home, $602.
Fr. Gary announced that St. Andrew Church had received a check from the Trust Department of Regions Bank in the amount of $5000 from the Smysor account. The late Rose Smysor gave this as a specific bequest to the Church.
Mrs. Wisniewski made the motion and Mrs. Williams gave the second to put the money from the Smysor account into the Capital Fund Drive account.
A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None.

The Caring Fund was reviewed. Mrs. Wisniewski asked that the amount of the monthly Caring Fund collection be kept separate from the amount given during the Coffee and Donut breakfast. This will begin with the December collection.
Mr. Schumacher made the motion and Mrs. Wisniewski gave the second to accept the Caring Fund report as presented.
A voiced vote was recorded as follows: Aye – All; Nay – None.
The Chairman declared the motion carried.
Bill Harper gave a presentation concerning his duties at St. Andrew as a Pastoral Minister (Coordinator of Religious Education & Music Director) and his studies toward becoming a Parish Life Coordinator. If anyone has any questions or comments for Bill they can either call him or e-mail him.
Fr. Gary reported that another phone in the Rectory is not functioning. The entire system is out-dated and not going to have parts available in the near future. The group discussed buying a new system or leasing a new system at approximately $253 a month.
Mr. Barger offered to contact those companies that are interested in installing the type of systems needed in the Parish house. He will get bids and report back at the next meeting.
