At the February meeting President Regina Jones appointed a Nominating Committee of Nancy Korando, Jean Kortkamp and Tillie Jo Brush to prepare a slate of officers to be presented at the April meeting.

Rosaries for the classrooms & small gifts were collected to give to the school for the children's treasure box.

Hostesses for the February meeting were: Tillie Jo Brush, Nancy Korando and Jean Kortkamp.

At the March meeting it was decided to sell items that were in the Altar Society cabinet since they had not be used in years. A silent auction will be held at the April meeting to sell some of these items.

Hostesses for the March meeting were: Betty Perschbacher, Catherine Eisenhauer, Loretta Reiman, and Marcia Allen.

A Day of Recollection was held on April 9th at St. Noel Retreat and Conference Center, Ozark. Eight ladies from Murphysboro attended. The Theme was "Sharing His Light". The day included speakers Deacon Donald Sparling and Dave Ebenhoh, lunch, the Rosary and concluded with Mass. It was a very spiritual day and everyone had a great time.

At the April meeting the slate of officers were presented by the nominating committee, which was accepted. May banquet was discussed. It will be an Italian Night Mother-Daughter Banquet & Installation of Officers, which will be held on May 10th in the school cafeteria.

First Communion Roses were put together for the children who were to make their First Communion. A silent auction was held to sell items out of the Altar Society cabinet that were no longer used. We made $100.00 from the auction.

Hostesses for the April meeting were: Judy Wisniewski, Sue Peterein, Dorothy Smith, Pat Schmitt, and Frances White.

We helped organize 3 funeral dinners for the months of February, March and April.

We purchased the following for the church: $174.24 - Altar Bread, $47.76 Baptismal Candles, $50.00 Finger Towels, $194.55 Wine, $90.00 - Cleaning Altar Gowns.

We would like to welcome the following new members to Altar Society: Madeline Layne & Belinda Davitz.

A candle has been lit for all members of the Altar Society living and deceased at the Grotto in Lourdes, France and also at the Chapel of St. Gildard in Nevers, France where the body of St. Bernadette is.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

Thursday, May 5th - Noon Till 1:00 P.M. - Smysor Plaza - (Rain Location: Davis-McCann Center

This year's national theme is "God Shed His Grace On Thee". This year we will have NO KEYNOTE SPEAKER. Instead, along with some special music, we are planning to devote the remainder of our time together to PRAY, with a larger number of believers leading in prayer from the platform that day.
